So it’s a new year, and we’re all asking our body for forgiveness for our sins.

Many of us have declared that this is our year, to finally take things seriously.

Others, are keen to get back in to the swing of things. There’s been a little Christmas blow-out, but we’re keen to get things back to where we were before.

We make the commitment to start, but then wonder WHERE to start?

How do we know we’re going the right way about it? How do I know what’s right for me?

Many of our clients often say things like ‘where were you 10 years ago?’, ‘Now I understand how to go about it, it doesn’t seem so hard’, ‘I wish I came to see you first’.

Starting a weight loss program without tailored advice beforehand is a bit like getting a script from the Doctor without them seeing you first, or knowing what your symptoms are.

Or….like expecting a mechanic to fix your car without knowing what’s wrong first.

I see this with my clients all the time. They’re attempting to get results, without first knowing what needs to change.

Take Leanne for example.

Leanne is a school teacher who has gained weight slowly over the years. She promises herself every school holidays she would lose the weight. Leanne gets too busy and exhausted to look after herself properly during term. This time last year, Leanne was determined to get in to a routine once and for all. This was her year. She signed up to a 12 week challenge which had a low-carb diet prescribed. Leanne was committed. She didn’t miss a training session and follow the diet religiously. Much to Leanne’s frustration, things weren’t changing. She was feeling a little better for eating better, but the weight didn’t budge. Leanne’s friend Karen (who is also a teacher), told her to come and see us. ‘I don’t know what they do, but it just works’.

A few questions in, we soon discover that the stresses of being a teacher and Leanne’s poor sleep are major handbrakes to Leanne’s results.

Much to Leanne’s delight, after implementing our strategies, things finally started to move, and move quickly.
