Gluten Free Food Tips

Did you know, popular ‘readily available’ Gluten Free foods can be nutritionally lacking, often filled with sweeteners, rice and maize flour, leaving consumers susceptible to Vitamin and Mineral deficiencies?

Here at ANC, we not only work to rectify these deficiencies, but we also stock a range of Gluten Free products which we source for their nutritional quality as well as taste.

Tips to look out for:

1. Ensure you’re eating wholefoods daily.

While it's great there are quick options available, a diet rich in fresh fruit, vegetables and wholegrains are still naturally gluten free and quick too!

2. Get enough fibre.

Fibre is vital for gut health. It feeds our gut bacteria and keeps them healthy. Gluten free foods are notoriously lower in fibre.

3. Check if it's gluten free.

Processed foods can be labelled 'gluten free' if they have no detectable gluten and are always safe. There are many other naturally gluten free foods i.e fruit, vegetables, unprocessed meat, milk and cheese etc. which don't require labelling.

4. Check the Label!

Look out for may contain statements! A voluntary statement declaring possible allergens. If any gluten containing grains are listed the product is not safe for Coeliacs due to cross contamination.
